Prizes
U.S. and International Submissions
All Filmmakers are encouraged to attend the SONscreen Film Festival and may submit entries into the listed categories (fee per submission category). Entries submitted for the U.S. competition must come from within the continental U.S.A., Canada, Bermuda or the US Virgin Islands (North American Division).
International film submissions will be included in the general competition and are eligible for awards at this years 2010 Worldwide General Conference Special edition Festival.
2010 Categories for Competition/Awards:
* only four award categories this year
- Best in Fest - Grand prize includes the SONNY award trophy and cash prize of $2,000 to the winning filmmaker.
- Audience Choice Award - Mini SONNY award and cash prize of $250
We're announcing two new awards for this year only! These awards will go to the films that best illustrate God's Grace which coincides with the theme of this year's 59th General Conference Session. According to our Christian beliefs, Grace is "unmerited favor" from God (Eph 2:8-9). It is the outpouring of the love of God on humanity and is the basis of Christians' hope for eternal salvation. There are various aspects of Grace, but the Films that best depict it in 30 min. or less will be awarded at this year's festival.
- SSFF Special GC Session 1st Place Award for Best Ilustration of God's Grace- cash prize of $500
- SSFF Special GC Session 2nd Place Award for Best Illustration of God's Grace- cash prize of $250
Please Note: Because of the modified award categories this year, filmmakers will be given the option to submit for both this year's 2010 festival showcase and the 2011 SSFF (since we'll return back to the regular festival awards and schedule in 2011). However, if you are awarded in the 2010 Festival, your film will be screened in the "out of competition" category in the 2011 SSFF
All Winners will be announced and awarded at a special on-stage ceremony at the end of the final Sunday evening screening. We encourage all filmmakers to be in attendance.
