Hi everyone,
Time flies -- and so do we, this Wed. in fact. This is our final week of prep before we launch into Production in TN on May 11. Aaaaaahhh!!!!
We want to welcome two new cast members to the team: Anders Fillman as Ace
and Josie Gammell (Girl, Interrupted) as the Mother. We now have a complete
cast, woohoo!
So things are going well. However, last week was tough in the Faith department. You run into problems on any film shoot, so I was expecting obstacles. They hit last week in succession. Our camera rental rate jumped
from $2K to $5K (unaffordable). We lost our primary shooting location. And SAG informed us of additonal expenses we hadn't budgeted for, around $2K.
In the midst of these kind of setbacks, you have to fall back on the call you initially heard from God. Do I believe he called us to make this film? Do I believe his hand is on it, guiding us? Do I believe that HE is the originator of and creative visionary behind this film, and that I am only a partner in the telling of this redemptive story? These are not naive,
rhetorical questions. It would be pretty bold to answer with a "Yes..."*

"Telling Stories that Change the World"
By Pastor Ryan Bell. Hollywood Church
(Exerpt from his talk at SONscreen Film Festival VI (April 12, 2008)
The planners have entitled this festival "Changing the world 24-frames per second." What you are suggesting with that title is something fairly radical and daring. Namely, that art, and film in particular, can change the world. This is not self-evident. Some might legitimately ask, "Can film change the world?" Or, more broadly, "Can art change the world?"
A cynic might say, "the world and culture shapes art, not the other way around." And, when we look around we see a lot of art that is, in fact, merely a reflection of the current zeitgeist. Not all artists would say they are even attempting such an ambitious thing, and at some level, art doesn't need another reason. Art is it's own reason. But as Christians in the arts, I want to suggest that we have a higher calling---

The Adventist Channel is the first online inspirational digital video network in the world. The North American Division has partnered with BiggyTV who is distributing a portion of the Church's video content to more than 7,000 current affiliates of BiggyTV. This means that many people are seeing Seventh-day Adventist produced videos for the first time. Connie Jeffery, the daughter of Adventist television pioneer George Vandeman, was introduced as the "host" of theadventistchannel.org because like her father she is also now a pioneer in Adventist media.
