2008 Flyer AdFeaturing Interview with:
Best In Fest Winner
ADAM BUCK

"Electronic Solutions" (Drama)
Adam Buck, Southern Adventist University

1. (SSFF)   What was your first reaction when you heard you had won the Best In Fest for the SONscreen Film Festival this year?
(AB) I laughed.  I was in Australia and Fiji shooting video for my job... I wish I could have been there [at SONscreen]. (He received the call right after the awards ceremony from filmmaker colleague and friend Leslie Foster)

2. (SSFF)  What was your inspiration behind your award winning film?
(AB) I wanted to make a film that dealt metaphorically with the issues of forced religion and the state of the church.

3. (SSFF)  Considering you have participating in the festival before, but this time came out the top winner at the festival, how does that speak to  your view of commitment and perserverance (and what advice to you give to other filmmakers on that)?
(AB) I believe if you have a passion for film you should do everything you can to tell your stories.  Just having the ability and resource to work on a film is an amazing experience.  Getting to show them at festivals is just a bonus.   [Advice to fillmmakers is ] Work on as many projects as you can to get experience and grow as a film maker, if you happen to win a festival then that is great, but there is more to making a film then an award.  I do not believe it should be your ultimate goal.

4. (SSFF) What is the impact and importance of the SONscreen Film Festival to you?
(AB) It is an important element for Christian filmmakers, giving us an opportunity to interact with others of the same mindset.

5. (SSFF)  How do you see God in film?
(AB) I believe media is the most powerful tool we have at our disposal.  Film has the ability to connect with people on a deep personal level and through I believe God can speak.  I heard someone say once that if Jesus came today he would be a filmmaker.  I don't recall were I heard that, but I concur.

6.  (SSFF) What are you current projects your working on?
(AB) I'm in the post process of a short film I recently directed.  This summer I am part of the crew on feature film being shot in Tennessee, and I have several projects lined up for the next year.  I am also in the process of establishing a non- profit organization with several other artists.

7. (SSFF)  Where can your film be viewed or a person be able reach you?
